As an example, Australian Jarrah is a very hard wooden flooring type, with a Janka (Hardness) rating of 8.5 kN (Blackbutt is considered one of the hardest at 9.1 kN), but it still isn't immune to the wear and tear of life, and of course it's not a flooring that is suited to everyone's taste, depending on your house's colour scheme and furnishings, etc.

Bamboo grows at 30cm a day, which means it is easily managed in comparatively small plantations with a high production rate. This has the added bonus of increasing availability of bamboo. Installation is far less likely to be delayed due to lack of availability with bamboo than with hardwoods.
